  1. Unit: Europe. Assessment: A Research Project about the Netherlands and how they have interacted with their environment. (a System of Dams, Dikes, Sluices and Canals)

  2. Research A few good places to start: http://www.deltawerken.com/ This website is very useful. It is also very easy to read. http://www.rijkswaterstaat.nl/en/images/Water%20Management%20in%20the%20Netherlands_tcm224-303503.pdf This document is a bit too long and difficult for you to read and use everything, but it’s useful for certain things, like maps and the history of this system

  3. The Structure: • You are going to use at least 3 of the 5 themes of Geography here: • Location: maps, description, etc… • Place: a short history of the flooding in the Netherlands. Find the human element in this story. How were people’s lives changed by the flooding in 1953 for example? • Human-Environment Interaction: How does this system work and how has it affected the people of the Netherlands (good and bad) • So follow this basic structure. 10 slides should be enough

  4. Criteria Criteria A: Knowledge Criteria C: Skills Criteria D: Organization and Presentation

  5. Warnings: Absolutely no Copy & Paste this time. None. This will result in a zero. Presentations with a Works Cited page will not get a maximum of 2 in Criteria D. Use the MLA format. Use speech marks if you are going to quote from a text.
