AGENDA DEMONSTRATION and Note taking: • TYPOGRAPHY • FONTS • TRACE TOOL • LAYERS • PRACTICE
INSPIRATION • Our next mini project will be using Typography and fonts to create a piece of artwork. Here are some examples and inspiration.
Layer Tool • This tool allows you to work on overlapping items without accidentally moving things. • You can lock layers and unlock them by clicking on the lock icon on each layer. • The Layers box is under the WINDOW tab.
Text Tool • Looks like a T and appears on the left tool box (3 tools from the top on the right side) • Click and drag this on the page and you can create type. • To enlarge the type drag the T tool to select the text and then go to the top bar where is says character. You will see a number. • The number is size of the type. Change it to size you want.
Pen Tool • This sits next to the Type Tool. You can trace text and objects with this. • To make text art (typography) you need to trace the letters to make them objects. • In your layers box use the type tool to put in your initials. • Lock that layer so it won’t move.
Tracing • Create a new layer to trace the letters. • With your magnification tool zoom in as close to the letters as possible. • Click on the pen tool and select a stroke that is pink and a fill that has no color (a slash through it) • Begin tracing the letters. • Make sure the first point and the last connect.
