UCHS GACHE plans • January 27th - toured North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville. • February 7th and 8th - Local trips for Healthcare Science classes • February 21st - Agriculture guest speakers • February 25th - UGA tour with Agriculture students
March 4th - UGA tour with Family Consumer Science and Early Childcare • March 8th - NGCSU tour for Healthcare Science students • March 10th - Career Fair at UCMS • March 11th - SCAD tour for Administrative Information and Support students • March 15th - Career Fair Parent night at UCMS • March 17th - CEFGA Expo with Transportation, Construction, and Metals Fabrication students.
North Georgia Technical College • January 27th, 2011- Seventy 78 students from UCHS toured the NGTC Clarkesville Campus. Some of these students had the opportunity to compete in the Skills USA activities. • Students toured all facilities, had lunch in the dining hall, and had a Q&A session with an admissions representative.
NGTC Feedback • Students commented that after the tour, they believed they could attend college at NGTC and be successful. • Another student’s grandmother commented that her grandson had never talked so much about school as he had after the tour. He is finally excited about school!
Agriculture Guest Speakers • Doug Towery - NRCS Agent, branch of USDA. Supervisor for the Blue Ridge Mountain Soil and Water Conservation District. • Scott Nelson - Owner of ACE Hardware, Blairsville, GA.
UGA with Ag students • Students met with FFA staff at UGA, faculty from the Warnell School of Forestry, toured the WSF building, toured the UGA campus, and toured the Poultry Science division of UGA. • Students were excited about the options available at UGA and impressed with the facilities.
Career Fair Projects • CTAE students were given the opportunity to develop presentations for each CTAE pathway at UCHS. The best 2 projects from each pathway will present at the career fair on March 10th and at the parent night on March 15th.

More to come…. • UCHS has several more GACHE activities planned for the remainder of the school year. • Students and teachers comment everyday about the trips and projects. • Excitement about post-secondary plans is increasing with each activities.
Our only concern…. • We really think we need more money! • Thus we are at the grant writing workshop on Thursday, March 3rd. • This PPT is under construction….. • More to come!
