  2. IQ Tests • The IQ test was developed about a century ago as a way to determine who would have trouble in school. • The test measures linguistic ability, logical-mathematical ability, and, occasionally, spatial ability.

  3. IQ Tests • IQ tests do not inform us about other intelligences • IQ doesn't look at creativity, civic mindedness, morals, or ethics.

  4. SAT & ACT We don't do much IQ testing anymore, but the successors of IQ tests are still with us. (SAT & ACT) Arguably the most valued examinations in the nation--are basically the same kind of disembodied language-logic instrument as IQ.
