Green Paper for Post-school Education and Training • DHET was formed in 2009, bringing together all post-school education and training institutions • biggest challenge number of young people who face a bleak future • post school system not meeting the needs of the economy and society as a whole • target: University enrollments 1,5m by 2030 • target: FET’s and other enrollments 4,0 m by 2030
Green Paper For Post-school Education and Training (continued) • FET colleges: • appropriate programmes (diversity) • upgrading lecturer qualifications • management and governance capacity • appropriate IT for management and learning • forge linkages with business • Community Education and Training Centres (CETC) • needs of out-of school youth and adults • South African Institute for Vocational and Continuing Education and Training (SAIVCET) • playing a supportive role to institutions (FETs and SETAs)
