SCHOLARSHIPS • Keep your HOPE Scholarship, it is worth a lot of money for that extra time spent studying • Keeping your grades up in high school will qualify you for a lot of free scholarship money. Plan to live without Credit Cards • New Law requires you to be 21 or have a co-signer who will pay your bills if you do not. • Paying only the minimum due will take you 30 years to pay off your debt If you never charge anything else. • Save now and pay with cash later.   8. PYF • Pay Yourself First – 10 % a month goes into savings for emergencies. You should save up 3 – 6 months equivalent pay that you never touch.   9. Checking account • Open one checking account and be very careful. No overdrafts, no bounced or returned checks and keep a balance of over $100.
