  1. The Amur Leopard

  2. WHO? • Who does this species effect? This species effects anyone who loves leopard print, like me, the World Wide Fund for animal protection, and everyone who live in China, Korea, and Russia. Now let’s pounce on the “WHAT?”

  3. WHAT? • What is the species? The species I am doing this month is… The Amur Leopard, the scientific name for this beautiful creature is the Panthera pardus orientalis.Roughly there are 30-40 remaining in the wild, yet only 12 are pure-breeds. Let’s meow to the “WHEN?”

  4. WHEN? • When did this animal become endangered? The Amur Leopard was added to the endangered list, quite a few times in,1996 by the IUCN and in1994 by the IUCN again. Let’s hop to the “WHERE?”

  5. WHERE? • Where does this species originate from? The Amur Leopard originates from China, some of Korea, and parts ofRussia. I know this section was short so let’s rawr to the “WHY?”

  6. WHY? • Why is this species endangered? The Amur Leopard is usually hunted for its beautiful, spotted fur. In 1999, an undercover investigation team found a female and a male Amur leopard skin, which were being sold for $500 and $1,000 respectively in the village of Barabash, not far from the Kedrovaya Pad reserve in Russia.

  7. WHY? (Cont.) • Why is this species endangered? The main reason is due to habitat destruction(i.e wildfires, intensive logging, etc.) The second reason as I said in the other “WHY?” is because they are being poached for they’re beautiful coat and bones. Now let’s have a break for or “Fast Facts!”

  8. Fast Facts! • There are 7-12 Amur Leopards in china and 20-25 in Russia( not such a fun fact, now is it?) • Adult males usually weigh around 32-48kg, large females usually weigh up to 75kg,and adult females usually weigh around 25-43kg. • The Amur leopard can live up to 20 years • Amur leopards are solitary animals. Aside from mating and territorial disputes, they rarely interact with one another.

  9. How? • How do we help? You can help by: • Donate • Adopt • Take action You can also go to this link to learn more: http://worldwildlife.org/how-to-help Thanks for viewing/listening to my May C.E, now we can crawl to the Soo Meta!
