  2. Introduction:引言 • Welcome back to all our students and parents! • I hope all our students had a good winter vacation and are ready for the new semester! • I am very excited about this semester! • 歡迎所有的學生家長回到學校 • 我希望我們所有的學生過了很好的寒假並準備好新學期。 • 我對這學期感到很興奮!

  3. My Teaching我的教學 Strategies:策略 • Inspire啟發 • Motivate引起動機 • Generate interest引發興趣 (I try to be fun, passionate and dynamic!) (我試著成為有趣,有熱情,有動力的老師)

My Teaching Philosophy • Children all have different personalities and different learning strengths and weaknesses. • I try to integrate different subjects, thematic content and educational mediums into my lessons. I understand that classes can go in so many directions and often let the students dictate the direction in which we learn • I put an emphasis on learning independently in an effort to prepare students for the challenges of Junior and Senior High School. • I value critical thinking and continue to challenge students to think in different ways.

My Teaching Philosophy • I also try to use a variety teaching methods which suit and match a student’s personality and ability. • I try to nurture and build self-confidence and a positive attitude towards learning. • I believe that if my classes are fun and interesting, then the students will learn better, too.

  6. Grade 5 Curriculum • Next Move 5 • Theme Teaching • Write Right 2 • Evaluation: Oral testing and classroom performance • Library Reading List: 20 Books (10 Books/Semester) • Wizard of Oz:The grade 5s will be performing various scenes from the classic play.

  7. Next Move and Theme Teaching: • Unit 5:Australia–澳大利亞We will be learning about how to write newspaper articles. Students will report on a piece of news from around their neighborhood. • Unit 6:India–印度Students will learn how to write a book review. Students will go to the library, read a book and write a critical review of the story. • Unit 7:Iceland–冰島Students will learn about poetry. Students will read some examples of English poetry and try their hand at writing their own.

  8. Next Move - Continued: • Unit 8:Kenya- 肯亞Students will learn to keep a dream journal. Students will learn how to express their dreams in writing and share with the class. • Unit 9:Guatemala–瓜地馬拉Students will learn how to write a formal invitation.

  9. Write Right 2:寫作二 • Unit 6:Persuasive Writing–說服的寫作Explaining why you want something. • Unit 7:Expository Writing–說明的寫作Writing about dreams • Unit 8:Letter Writing– Writing a thank you letter

Write Right 2 - Continued: • Our Write Right books will help students to practice different forms of writing and will also be used to develop reading and speaking fluency as well as teaching new vocabulary, grammar rules, punctuation and spelling. • The students will also be asked to present some of their writing projects orally for the rest of the class during the course of the semester.

My Teaching Goals • Help students to develop and improve their English skills. • Develop fluency and confidence in speaking, reading and writing. • Help students develop a positive attitude towards learning (Especially English as a 2nd Language) • Nurture and develop a concern and understanding about important environmental and social issues (e.g.: nature conservation & human rights) Help • Help students to learn more about other countries in relation to Taiwan. • Learn independently and with curiosity. • 幫助學生發展並改進他們的英文技能。 • 發展流利和自信在說,讀,寫。 • 幫助學生發展正確的態度來學習英語為第二語言。 • 培養並發展對環境和社會議題的理解和關懷(例如: 自然保育和人權) • 幫助學生去學更多其他國家和相對於台灣。 • 培養有好奇心的自學力。
