Information Service • Public information service: shopping mall discount information, public news • Customized information service: stock market, weather forecast • Location based service: tour guide, zone billing 0101010 Operator Network • Characters: -Portability and Fast association: <1s re-association -Low latency: 1~2s is ok but shorter for single hop – MAC layer latency (<1s) -Broadcast and multicast -Security required -Localization feature Huawei, Telecom Italia

Telecom Applications Requirements • Lower latency: current GTS mechanism is not enough • Portability and fast association: association and re-association method should be optimized • Peer to peer: not support well in 15.4-2006 yet • Broadcast & multicast: current broadcast capability is limited, multicast support is lacked • Bulk transfer: the related issues should be considered • Enhanced security: e.g. enhanced authentication, public key, multicast security • Reliability: packets conflict should be decreased • Controllable radio range: power control capability? • Localization: it would be a companion feature for many scenarios • Various services coexistence: mechanisms to be introduced to make the services peacefully coexist, i.e. one doesn’t impact others much, and flexibly accommodate different service types Huawei, Telecom Italia
