  3. Morning Routine • Cloakroom Routine • Packed Lunches/school dinners • Homework Folders (including all correspondence) • Visual timetable

  4. Helpful Tips • All clothing and belongings should be labelled. • All correspondence should be returned inside homework folders. • All snacks and packed lunch items should be completely nut free. • All water bottles should be labelled. Please note: no juice in water bottles.

  6. School Uniform • School blazer • White shirt • School tie • Black trousers/shorts/skirt/pinafore • Black shoes • Gym kit- black shorts/joggers and white T-shirt. Black jumper for outdoors.

  7. P.E. • Indoor Gym: Tuesday (P1a and P1b) Wednesday (P1a) Friday (P1b). • Outdoor Gym: Monday (P1a and P1b).

  8. P.E. – helpful tips • Both kits kept in school and will be sent home at holidays. • No jewellery. • Long hair should be tied back.

  10. Literacy & English • 6 main areas • Reading – Materials to support the process • Writing - Different Genres • Listening /Talking -Personal Talks/Circle Time/Drama/Oral Storytelling • Phonics - Jolly phonics & Supplementary materials • Handwriting – Jolly Phonics and Nelson materials • French

Language Phonics/ Reading / Writing • Jolly phonics = blending/skills and phonological awareness are strong predictors of reading success. • 3 new sounds are taught every week but phonics teaching happens every day. • Children will have a sound book which goes home 3 times per week. • The most important thing is that children are confident with the sounds and able to manipulate them and use them regularly, for different purposes and in many different ways • Reading Schemes used at Busby • Storyworlds – 4 different worlds. Same vocabulary. • Project X • Literacy World • Writing will be progressed through Foundations of Writing opportunities and shared writing with the Teacher

  12. Numeracy & Mathematics • Active maths with mixed resources • 4 Main areas • Number, Money & Measurement • Shape, Position and Movement • Information & Data Handling • Problem Solving & Enquiry • Mental Maths – Daily • Maths through ICT

  13. Interdisciplinary Learning • Links different areas of the curriculum. • Possible contexts for learning: Living Things; Toys; Busby and Beyond. • Finance Week • STEMM Week

Homework • Monday – Reading/Phonics • Tuesday – Reading/Phonics • Wednesday – Reading • Thursday – Reading/Phonics • Reading should be done regularly throughout the week/especially the repetition of looking at core words (separate sheets for each stage) • Please encourage Mental Maths at home in your everyday household activity e.g. talking about shopping/times for bed/routines. • Creative Maths challenge / Numeracy Skills
