  2. #1 EQuIP trained the Delaware Reading Cadre. The EQuIP rubric is used to evaluate lessons and units created and piloted by Reading Cadre to be posted as models on our website. #2 ELA Education Associates and University of Delaware partners use the EQuIP rubric to give targeted feedback to participants of our State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG).

  3. #3 Delaware Literacy Coalition and Administrators • Delaware Literacy Coalition participants are LEA Administrators of Curriculum and Instruction. Coalition participants partnered with their school principals for training on the EQuIP rubric. Participant Feedback: “The EQuIP rubric training gave me the opportunity to internalize the language needed when conducting evaluations.” “…it also gave me look-fors when discussing lesson content, where gaps exist in units, and how to help teachers with targeted professional development and resources.”

Additional Training and Uses of the EQuIP Rubric #4 EQuIP trained members of our Institutes of Higher Education; participants were able to gain a deeper knowledge of the CCSS and discussed ways to use the rubric in teacher preparation programs. #5 The Delaware Department of Education uses sections 1 and 4 when reviewing applications of potential Charters.

  6. Delaware’s Implementation Plan of theNext Generation Science Standards

NGSS Action Plan focuses on 5 Key Components • Communication: Goal: By the end of the 2016-17 school year, all stakeholder groups will have a clear understanding on the vision, rationale, implementation plan, and rollout of the NGSS. • Assessment: Goal: By the end of the 2016-17 school year, a comprehensive assessment system that is fully aligned to the NGSS will be implemented in Delaware. • Instructional Practices: Goal: By the end of the 2016-17 school year, science instruction in all classrooms will demonstrate the blend of the science & engineering practices, disciplinary core ideas, and crosscutting concepts as outlined in the Frameworks. Leaders will take steps to ensure that all educators receive high-quality, research-based professional development. • Curricular and Instructional Materials: Goal: All schools will implement with fidelity materials that are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), to ensure the quality teaching of science in all elementary classrooms and 6-12 science classes. • Delaware Science Coalition Infrastructure Goal:By the end of the 2016-17 school year, the Delaware Science Coalition will exist to collaboratively assist member schools and districts meet the vision of the NGSS, preparing students to be college and career ready.
