  3. A fact is a statement that can be proven true or false. • Examples of facts: • The letter “A” is the first letter in the English alphabet. • Turtles are reptiles that have hard shells. Review: Fact

  4. An opinion is a statement that someone believes or thinks. There may or may not be a good reason to think this way. • Words that give you clues that a statement is an opinion are like: believe, like, and should • These words express how someone feels about something. Review: Opinions

  5. Ice cream should be everyone’s favorite food. • Soccer is the best sport. • Everyone should play a musical instrument. Examples of opinions:
