What is a Development Service? • At a glance: • A partner is accountable for design & oversight. UNDP is only accountable for quality of our service provision. • Includes: • Fee for Services to the private sector, government, CSOs, UN or other partners • MA (Managing Agent Only) such as UNDP’s role in Common Humanitarian Funds • IFI (Implementing all or part of projects of IFIs)
What can be done as a Fee for Service? • Types of services can include: • Analysis • Training • Advisory services • Reports & evaluations, • Communication strategies • Knowledge consultations • Convening partners • Delivering outputs for partner projects (such as for IFIs) for a fee • And MORE
What is Different? - First, much lighter requirements Development Services Standard Development Projects
It allows us to work differently with partners for the SDGs • Especially the PRIVATE SECTOR • Offers opportunities to meet partner’s needs for policy advice and other services quickly and efficiently, enabling us to set up services-on-demand agreements. • Can fund part or all of costs for staff who provide services to partners.

Pricing Development Services • Cost-plus vs. market rates (fully recover costs) • Fee for deliverables – no need to itemize all costs unless required by partner • Invoicing once services are completed • No CDRs • Reporting may/may not be required – it depends on the nature of services and agreement with the partner.
