  2. When it comes to being a good defense attorney, there are a number of things that you have to consider and work for. One of the most important aspects to being a good defense attorney, like Michael LeRoy of Orlando, is your credibility and reputation. • While it takes time to build your reputation, it can take only a moment to destroy it. A large part of your job is talking with opposing attorneys and the judges. With a poor reputation or zero credibility, any argument or case you make won’t be worth much.

Know the law – the worst thing you can do is incorrectly advise your client because you don’t know what the facts of the case are and how the laws apply to those facts. Patience – you will undoubtedly be waiting on a lot of people throughout your career; the judge, the prosecutor, your client. Don’t let the frustration of having to wait around bubble over and destroy your frame of mind. Presentation skills – you have to be able to get your message across coherently. The more coherent you are with your message, the more effective you will be for your clients. Here are some other qualities you will need to possess in order to become a good defense attorney.
