Frances Valenta • Great Grandmother ( Marie’s Mother) • Born on November 14, 1896 • Came to the united states from Czechoslovakia when she was 14 alone • She landed in New York and she lived there for 2 years and then she moved to Moline and where she knew family • Her first husband was Carl Pavlica • Remarried Frank Gelniek • Moved to Indianapolis around 1922 • She loved flowers and birds • Lived three houses down from where my father grew up • Great Story teller • Never got remarried after her second husband died

  14. Karl Pavlica • Died in Moline, Illinois in 1918 from a disease known as “The Great Flu Epidemic” • Great Grandfather (Marie’s Father) • Was married to Frances Valenta

Sofie Louise Grahnamann • Died when she was 96 from Alzheimers • Had five kids, Robert, Walter, Carl, Doris, and Hannah • Born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1890 • Was 6 feet and 2 inches tall Loved telling stories from her past • Had a very interesting life • Lived very long and died of old age.

  16. William Tieke • Great- Grandfather (Robert’s Dad) • That was the original last name but then later got changed so people could pronounce it correctly • Was diabetic • Leg amputated in 1964 • Died in 1966 • Very short and about 5 foot 6 • Truck Gardner for a living
