iPass Overview • Who is iPass? • Seagate's global remote access provider • When do you use iPass? • Whenever you need Internet connectivity outside of the office or home • Global Dial-up access, Wired Ethernet access in hotels, PHS in Japan, ISDN access • iPass gets you on the Internet. Use your VPN of choice will get you into Seagate. • What are the benefits of using iPass? • One Username/Password across different access types • Use the same software to connect to different access types • Centralized Billing for Seagate

iPassConnect (iPC) v3.20 System Requirements • Operating System • Windows 98 SE • Windows ME • Windows NT 4.0 SP6 • Windows 2000 • Windows XP (Home or Pro) • Browser • Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher • Color • 16-bit or higher
iPassConnect Features and configurations • Single interface for all connection options • Session Limit Timeout • 230 minutes with 10 minute warning • Automatic phone book updates • Performed weekly (50 KB Compressed on average). • Can be cancelled. • Manual phonebook update option also available. • Intelligent Dialing • 7-digit, 10-digit and 11-digit dialing in the United States • Recognize specific international rules • Local Number Lookup in the United States
Which Username/Password do I use? Users log on with their “Global ID” as their Username and their “iPass” Password
Can I save my password? Yes. Check box to Save Password
iPassConnect Phonebook Updates • Why are they important? • iPass updates the phonebook weekly • Add/Remove modem numbers • Re-sort access points based on quality • Add hundreds of broadband access points each month • How does the phonebook update? • Automatically after you connect to an iPass access point • Manually by going to Settings/Update Phonebook • You can be on any Internet connection to do this (Office, Home DSL/Cable Modem, etc.)
TIPS The last Phonebook update date and time will be displayed Right-click on the icon in the System Tray as a shortcut to update How do I Update iPassConnect?
TIP Try other numbers if you’re not satisfied with the connection speed. Locating Numbers (Location Search)
Closest Number Lookup – in the U.S. only TIPS You must choose “United States” for country before using the Local Number Lookup tool If you’re unsure what is your local number, check the number on your hotel phone
TIP Be sure to put in the extra digit when dialing from a hotel Dial Properties
Dial Connection Settings • Internal modem will be detected and displayed by iPC • Redial Settings • Auto Redial attempts are set to one (adjustable) • iPass offers redundant dial Access Points in over 90% available locations • Smart Redial • automatically dials each Access Point in a targeted location until a connection is made • Users can enable/disable
Setting Bookmarks TIP Bookmark Dial Properties can be adjusted by location and venue
Connecting to Bookmarks Bookmarks are available from the Drop-Down Menu, the Phonebook or the System Tray iPass Connect does not need to be opened to access bookmarks from the system tray
Select the VPN geography of your choice and hit OK VPN Launch – post iPass connection
Troubleshooting the iPass Service (Dial) • Things to look for… • Modem not plugged in, phone line already in use • Typo in user ID or password (CAPS LOCK on) • Missing or wrong digit for outside line / enabled when not needed • Hardware issues (Faulty equipment, bad driver, hardware conflict) • Dialer set to disable call waiting on a line with no call waiting • User changing script files, or manually entering digits into dial string • End user system does not meet system requirements • Incorrect location settings • Not letting the phonebook update - attempting to use a disabled number
Connection Log – information for the help desk TIP Go to “Help”, “Connection Log” and copy the information in an email to the Seagate Help Desk Logs are also stored in C:/Program Files/iPass/iPassConnect/logs
Why use the Home Broadband option? • Provides a consistent connection interface • Automates VPN launch
What is Wired Broadband? • Broadband connectivity from hotels using an Ethernet cable • No charge on your hotel bill • Must authenticate with iPassConnect and not via the browser

How can I map to my nearest Broadband locations? TIP Use the iPass Hotspot Finder at www.ipass.com
Why can’t I connect at my hotel using Wired Broadband? • Be sure to first plug in the Ethernet cable to your PC before launching iPassConnect • If there is a “brick”, reboot it
