  2. Who and what determine wages and hours? • Labor unions represent the needs of workers to employers.

  3. Differing views on healthcare strikes. • Health care people are leaving their chosen profession for better paying jobs. • Minister of Health would like the government to intervene and legislate the workers back to work. People are at risk.

  4. Why Strikes? • They are a form of pressure. During a strike the workers refuse to do their work. • Strikes if successful and improve your quality of life by; • Increasing your wages. • Improved hours of work and time off • Improved health care benefits.

  5. What’s a Labor Union? • Labor unions provide a way for workers to act as a group. Unions make collective bargaining possible. They are an organization of workers that acts to protect workers’ rights and interests.

  6. Why employers and unions need to bargain? • So they can both mutually agree on consensus that is best for both groups of people.
