The reduction of disaster risks is the sum of a number of coordinated actions guided to the analysis, assessment, consideration and management of the factors that contribute to their occurrence.Society, in general, is at high-risk before the impact of potentially destructive events, such as, for example: earthquakes, plagues, volcanic eruptions, flooding, snow slides, fires, deforestation, pollution, hurricanes, seaquakes, etc.This high-risk exposure is related to the transformations in the natural and physical environment reducing the potential and the resilience of the societies and the ecosystems which we depend on for our subsistence.Therefore the reduction of disaster risk should be understood as a comprehensive cross-section on-going program in the current daily processes of a territory development.The Researchers Team of the actor-associations related to the subject area, which analyze the causes and effects of the disaster risks and their impact on society, intends to join the different and multiple actors, and, to this end, calls for participation to the scientific academic sector, government agencies, private and public companies, legislative actors, Civil organizations, educational institutions, health areas and the whole community.All the participants from the various areas involved in issues of disaster risks, will have available a common debate scope, where several actions will be possible, such as, spread the activities under way, build a dialogue about the already-made progresses, innovations, ideas, theories and models, share experiences with colleagues of other disciplines, and establish relationships so as to encourage the research, the analysis and the discussion as regards the possibility to achieve the reduction and adequate management of disaster risks. Sponsor Organizing Tackle the prevention of disaster risk from the educational sector, as a mushrooming factor of knowledge, through its assessment and description, and the spreading of precautionary measures.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR TECHNICAL PROBLEMS IN THE SERVER, ALL DATES HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED AS FOLLOWS.December 21th. 2012 - Deadline for submission of abstracts and full papers February 15th. 2013 - Communication Scholarship Acceptance March 08th. 2013 - Communication of acceptance of abstracts and full papersYou can submit works in abstract format and / or full papers interchangeably, which will be published in separate proceedings. In the Geohost Supporting Program, the available programs are: RAL PROGRAM: RESIDENTS IN LATIN AMERICA GRANT A.- 100 % Granting of the Registration fees GRANT B.- 60 % Granting of the Registration fees NRAL PROGRAM: NON RESIDENTS IN LATIN AMERICA GRANT A.- 100 % Granting of the Registration fees GRANT B.- 60 % Granting of the Registration fees The Organizing Commission of CIRiDe is proud to introduce the Geohost Supporting Program. This financing aid program has been designed to support Researchers on Earth Sciences who live and work in low-income countries and participants who have been cooperating with the organization of the Congress activities. The Geohost Supporting Plan is the only scheme of CIRiDe to provide a financing grant for the Congress participants. There are no other additional plans or funds. Foster a debate and spreading scope for applied researches and methodologies, related to disaster risk.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCESSING GEOHOST PROGRAM RAL PROGRAM: The applicants must be residents in Latin America and they can apply for one of the grants, such as: • GRANT A: Comply with the task of a Coordinator of a Symposium, in the scientific program published in the fourth Circular and in the website of the Congress. • GRANT B: Be the author of an Abstract or a Full paper, that will be selected for an oral presentation or poster in CIRiDe. NRAL PROGRAM: The applicants must be residents of developing countries, outside Latin America and they can apply for one of the grants, such as: • GRANT A: Comply with the task of a Coordinator of a Symposium, in the scientific program published in the fourth Circular and in the website of the Congress. • GRANT B: Be the author of an Abstract or a Full paper that will be selected for an oral presentation or poster in CIRiDe All the applicants to a Grant will be invited to attach the abstract and/or the Full Paper that they intend to present in order to take part in the event, after the completion of the Applicant on-line form. There will not be any cost for sending the abstracts in the framework of the Grant program. The applicants can apply for the Residents in Latin America Program (PRAL) or for the Non Residents in Latin America Program (NRAL), but not in both of them. In order to be considered, the applying process must be completed as a whole by the applicant. The solicitors, who do not comply with the stated requirements or with incomplete information, will not be considered or acknowledged. All the applicants to a Grant will be invited to attach the abstract and/or the Full Paper that they intend to present in order to take part in the event, after the completion of the Applicant on-line form. There will not be any cost for sending the abstracts in the framework of the Grant program. The applicants can apply for the Residents in Latin America Program (PRAL) or for the Non Residents in Latin America Program (NRAL), but not in both of them. In order to be considered, the applying process must be completed as a whole by the applicant. The solicitors, who do not comply with the stated requirements or with incomplete information, will not be considered or acknowledged. The applications deadline will be December 30th. 2012 -The applicants awarded with the grant will receive formal notice by February 2013 Raise awareness in governmental agencies and decision-makers about the need to consider as a first-priority measure the reduction of disaster risk and the adjustment to climate change, fostering policies and actions in the sustainable development processes.

  7. PLEASE REGISTER AS A USER ON THE WEBSITE Involve the academic-scientific sector providing the appropriate setting for the discussion and diffusion of the results concerning the origin and evolution of disaster risks.l
