Critique of “Stone City, Iowa” • Description- I see a city that is in a rural area. Yellows and greens are mainly seen and have crisp, clean lines. • Analysis- There are rolling hills in the background and a river winding between them. My eyes follow the path coming down the hills and into town. • Interpretation- The artist is trying to say that this is a peaceful town and is important to him. • Judgment- I like this artwork because it has clean crisp lines. It takes me away from the city and brings me to this calm place.I think other people will like this piece too because it is relaxing and a great piece.
“He created distinct, indigenous art from an American way of looking at things, and utilization of materials from our own American scene”-Thomas Hunt (Friend of Grant Wood.
