Description, skills and relevance to forensics • Criminologist work variety of factors to determine why criminals commit crimes, determine and analyze criminal patterns based on biographical, social and psychological factors. Which then are used to aid law enforcement in assessing potential criminals. That being said, the relation between a criminologist and forensics is that in order to become a criminologist, one must study courses such as forensic science to be familiar with the criminal law, the criminal justice system and other courses that may aid them on the field to solve crimes. What is a Forensic Microbiologist and how does someone become one • A Forensic Microbiologist needs to have completed their Ph.D in microbiology or a Master’s in science. • A Forensic Micro biologist is the person behind the scenes analyzing samples that come in from crime scenes, (e.g if an unknown substance is found around a dead body at a crime scene, it would be given to the micro biologists to analyze and report.)

What they do and how much they make • Their career is a big part of forensics because they do all the behind the scenes analyzing of substance’s that can link people back to the crime scene (e.g. a chemical a local company uses is left at a crime scene). • Their salary range is $39,000 to $66,000 • An example of a Forensic Microbiologist is David Hodges who plays on CSI. Even though he is a fictional character he does “properly” example what they do.

25. What is it? • Forensic Odontologists are specialized dentists who are called to assist in the identification of an individual when other ways are not possible. Whether they’re looking at someone’s jaw&teeth to identify them or trying to link bite marks to an individual because of suspicion of abuse or assault. • They are also expected to explain and support their findings in court if necessary.
