  14. Times They Are A-Changin • JISCMail (& Mailbase): • Launched in mid 1990s • Provided a sense of community • People will to share & help each other Since 2003 significant drop in JISCMail usage. 31. What Happens Now? • Days of growth have ended • Web services will develop but with serious constraints • One of the most important things now is your professional social network: use the next 3 days to develop it! • IWMW 2010 can help you to explore these issues • Make sure you prepare yourself for the future

  32. How IWMW Sees Its Role • Premier event for members of UK HE institutional Web teams • Provide a forum for discussion, debate and sharing of best practices for supporting HEIS in provision of institutional Web services. • Ensure institutions are well-positioned to exploit innovations which can enhance their services. • Provides a forum for JISC-funded developments to be shared across the community and for feedback to be obtained. • Provide a cost-effective national service for the Web management community across UK HE sector. Feel free to give comments on IWMW 2010 blog

  33. But What of the Future? • Possible that cuts and changing priorities could see the sustainability of IWMW questioned • Should we: • Stop doing it? • Reduce length of event? • Run it as a virtual or hybrid event? • Allow commercial providers to provide alternatives? • Look for new business models (e.g. greater sponsorship – the ‘Netsoft lecture’)? Please tell us what you think during the event
