What’s New for Chapter Awards? • Honors in Action Chapter Award • College Project Award Replace Scholarship, Leadership and Service Hallmark Awards
Benefits of New Chapter Awards • Integrates Hallmarks • Simplifies Phi Theta Kappa programming (no more primary and secondary focus for each Hallmark) • Emphasizes our “Scholarship First” Mission • Encourages fewer projects with more substance • Reduces paperwork for chapters • Increases number of awards for chapters
Honors in Action Award As many as 80 awards including: • Top 50 Entries (highest scoring) AND • Up to 3 awards per Honors Study Topic Issue (10 issues for a maximum of 30 awards)
Judging Criteria • Academic Rigor of Research • Resourcefulness • Leadership Development • Service/Action • Persistence • Cooperative Effort/Outreach • Impact • Presentation • Total: 115 Points
Honors in Action Award • Provide a brief summary of your Honors in Action Project. • What issue from the current Honors Program Guide did you choose? Why did you choose this issue? • Briefly describe the resources used to research your issue.
Honors in Action Award • What conclusions did your chapter reach based on your research? • Summarize your objectives for this project and the process by which your chapter set these objectives. • With whom did you collaborate?
Honors in Action Award • Describe the leadership roles undertaken by the chapter that contributed to the development and implementation of this project. • Describe specific leadership development actions taken that helped members be more effective leaders for this project.
Honors in Action Award • Describe the service or “action” components of this project. • What were the quantitative and qualitative outcomes of your project, including lessons learned by your chapter members and others?
Honors in Action Award • What is left undone or what opportunities remain for the future?
College Project Award • Top 25 College Project Award Entries
Judging Criteria • Preparation • Leadership Development • Cooperative Effort/Communications • Impact • Presentation • Total: 55 Points
College Project Award • Briefly describe your College Project and who from the chapter and the college administration was involved in determining it? • Summarize your objectives for the College Project and the process by which the chapter and college administration set these objectives.
College Project Award 3. Describe the planning process and strategies developed to complete the College Project. 4. What were the quantitative and qualitative outcomes of your project, including the lessons learned by your chapter members and others? 5. What is left undone or what opportunities remain for the future?
Other Chapter Awards • Distinguished Chapters - Top 10% of entries determined by combined scores of Honors in Action and College Project Award Entries • Continued Excellence Award – recognizing Distinguished Chapters for three or more consecutive years • Top 10 Chapters including Most Distinguished Chapter

Advisor Awards • Paragon Award for New Advisors • Distinguished Advisor Award • Continued Excellence Award for Advisors
2011 Hallmark Awards Deadlines • Administrator Awards: Due 5:00 pm Central Time, December 1, 2010 • All Other Categories: Due 5:00 pm Central Time, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 Plan to Submit Early!
