JICA Training Outcomes in Terms of Capacity Building • Success: • Knowledge Transfer • Widen Sights of Participants • Trainers gain new knowledge of on going problems in developing countries • Problems and Challenge: • A few countries organize seminars on the JICA training outcomes by the JICA trainees on their experience courses. The Idea of Sharing New Knowledge is poor. Multiple effect of technology transfer is still a challenge for developing countries.
Some Success and Incomplete Technology Transfer • Success stories with Korea (helping capacity building) • and Malaysia • China, on the road of partially success • Other countries, Incomplete technology transfer –needs more efforts and improve Japanese approach

Global Center for Urban Sanitationan arm of The Water Team Japan • Japan Sewage Works Association and Government established a new body of all Japan cooperation for contributing to developing countries • A challenge of Global Center for Urban Sanitation • Urban Sanitation needs new approaches in addition to sewage works that require long term projects with finance, institution, human capacity, etc, • Global Climate Change, Nutrient Resources, Pandemic problems, etc, must be taking consideration. • Among potential challenges; • How to support country by country capacity building? • How to set up training centers or institutions for developing countries? • How to collaborate with Japanese and developing countries’ universities to build capacity?
