Knighthood (lords, knights)Jousting and Tournaments • Jousting was the medieval spectacle! • Jousts were organicedby men called heralds. • The knights used a lance • Videos 1. Medieval costumes These costumes were used by knights and soldiers in the jousting and combat, also during training. They were very heavy, so the knights dedicated enough time working out to develop their muscles and strength. BELTS, HELMETS, ARMOUR SPAULDERS, SABATONS, ARCH... Games played by population Folk football: la Soule, Paume Irish traditions • Bowling • Prisoner´s base • Blind man´s bluff/Hoodman´s blind • La“Soule” consisted of two teams fighting for a big stuffed bran ball. To beat the other team it was necessary to lead and put the ball in a place previously accorded. • Irish traditions were the basis of strength competitions. • Hammer throwing, stones, also wrestling were the sports and games that British preferred in the High Middle age.
