U-Unknown State the unknown information in the problem. example: (use problem on previous slide) U= number of apples eaten
E-Equation State the equation. example: let x represent the number of apples eaten. x= 7-4
S-Solve Solve the equation. example: Let x represent the number of apples eaten. x= 7-4 x= 3
S-Statement Give a concluding statement with the answer to the problem. example: Let x represent the number of apples eaten. x= 7-4 x= 3 Therefore, three apples were eaten.
