Uses of Second Life • Users create avatar to live in virtual world • Avatars socialize through free voice and text chat. • Use Second Life Work for your business • Second Life has its own unit-of-trade called the Linden Dollar • Teleconferencing • Web-based presentation and desktop sharing tools • Video conferencing • Develop your own virtual content
Second Life • May choose from several male or female avatars to represent you in the second life world. • May alter facial features, body type, and even clothing of your avatar to your liking. • Once you’ve signed up for Second Life, you may look for land. • Must pay an initial fee to acquire it and get set up • Ongoing fee for service and maintenance
Subscribing to Second Life • Registration to Second Life is free • Sign up through the website www.secondlife.com • Must download program • Launch the application to view the “world”
