  3. Dinosaurs • What is a Dinosaur? • A now extinct group of animals that dominated the earth for 160 million years.

  4. Dinosaurs • When were dinosaurs discovered? • Dinosaur remains have been discovered for thousands of years, but no one really knew what they were until the early 1800’s.

  6. Dinosaurs • What were dinosaurs like? • Fast moving, very active creatures; some ate meat, others ate plants, while some ate the eggs of other dinosaurs!

  7. Dinosaurs • What was the Earth like when dinosaurs walked it? • A lush tropical rainforest, mixed with deserts and large oceans, and very few cold climates.

  8. Dinosaurs • What happened to the dinosaurs? • A large asteroid hit the earth at the tip of the Yucatan peninsula, some 65 million years ago, causing their extinction.
