  4. Camera • You'll probably need one. • Shop around... • Ask about & test specific models at your local electronics store • Look for reviews at Amazon.com and NewEgg.com • What features matter? • 1080p vs 720p? • Zoom • Audio • Image stabilization • Storage and battery life

Camera Several devices to consider: • Samsung HMX-Q10 • Sony DCR-SX45 • Kodak PlaySport Zx5 Target, Best Buy, HH Gregg, Costco, etc. may have good entry-level options in the $150-250 range, if you prefer to see what you’re getting. …and if you need a tripod, Gorillapod is a good option with a weird name.

  7. Software Keep it simple: • Windows? Windows Movie Maker = Free. • Mac? iMovie is $15 from the App Store. • YouTube is ubiquitous, but Vimeo.com is another good option Editing still photos? • Windows – Try Paint.net (http://getpaint.net) • Mac – Paintbrush is free; Pixelmator is much better, and only $30 in the App Store
