Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy's By: Tyler Smith The world has lost power and these are some of the things we could use…
Solar Energy(Advantages) • It is powered by the sun so it is very renewable • It is non-polluting • It can provide very abundant power source for everybody • It is virtually free after buying the solar panels and batteries
Solar Energy(Disadvantages) • It takes up a lot of space • If cloudy not a lot of power is generated • You need batteries to store the power • At night the sun is not out so there is no power generated
Wind Power(Advantages) • Wind will always be here • The turbines are made in America • Non-polluting • The turbines can be placed on land or water
Wind Power(Disadvantages) • If the turbines are to close together they will interfere with each other • It costs a lot of money • The massive blades kill a lot of birds • Wind will always be here but there may not be a lot of wind
Coal(Advantages) • It is a very cheap source of electricity compared to nuclear and natural gases • There is a plentiful supply of it for everyone even in foreign countries • It is American made so we don’t have to import it
Coal(Disadvantages) • It would ruin all of our forests and we would have nothing left of them • It involves many dangerous jobs • Carbon monoxide is released from coal beds • Thousands are killed world wide each year from coal mining • It causes a lot of air pollution to burn coal
Hydroelectric energy(Advantages) • It is very renewable and it doesn’t pollute the air • Water that runs through the hydroelectric dams is free • Relatively low maintenance is required • The technology is reliable and has been proven to work over time
Hydroelectric energy(Disadvantages) • Many fish are killed trying to get through the dams • Areas farther down from the dam usually have low water • Behind the dam there are often floods • Very expensive to put the dam in
Gas/Oil/Propane(Fossil Fuels)(Advantages) • There are already propane generators • We use propane for heat, gas for our cars and oil for most machines already, why not our homes • It gives us a reliable source of energy • It gives us a lot of energy for a little fuel
Gas/Oil/Propane(Fossil Fuels)(Disadvantages) • They are all non-renewable • They all pollute • Fossil fuels will never come back they are made up of dead decaying plants in the ground
Bio-Fuel(Advantages) • It is non-toxic • It is better to transport because it does not explode easy • It doesn’t take a lot of energy to make biofuel
Bio-Fuel (Disadvantages) • Some Biofuels are bad for the environment • It comes from plants if there are no plants there is no bio-fuel
Geothermal(Advantages) • The earth’s temperature already reaches 12000°F imagine us using that for our own heat • It is non-polluting • It does not need big things like solar panels or windmills
Geothermal(Disadvantages) • It is not available in many places of the world • There is not much power from each vent • You have to replace the vents very frequently • You need a big water supply
Nuclear Energy(Advantages) • It pollutes very little • It produces a lot more energy than fossil fuels • It can generate power 24/7 unlike solar
Nuclear Energy(Disadvantages) • It uses a lot of radioactive materials • If there is a disaster lots of people can die from it
My Opinion I think that if all energy is lost on the world that solar energy would be better. It is very expensive to buy the panels and batteries but once you get them it is very inexpensive. Solar energy will always be here because every morning the sun comes up.
