Introduction • ProjectNICA/MPD is dedicated to study of hot & dense baryonic matter and development of the home accelerator facility providing relativistic heavy ions & polarized beams • all these allow to start a new strategic course of JINR towards the leading role in the relevant fields of high energy physics • Project is initiated & led by A.Sissakian & A.Sorin V.Kekelidze Round Table Italy-Russia @ Dubna
Introduction • A conceptual design of MPD is developed for • a study of hadronic matter in various states: • mixed phase / phase transition • search for critical end-point (triple point ?) • + other extreme states • The MPD will be operated in heavy ion collisions • over atomic mass range A=1-197 • at the energy up to √SNN = 11 GeV/u (for Au+79) The design average luminosity: L= 1027 cm2/s V.Kekelidze Round Table Italy-Russia @ Dubna
Physics tasks • Yield & spectra of particles (charged, neutrals, strange) • Study of the K/π(strangeness to entropy) ratio • Anisotropic collective flow • Femtoscopy (momentum correlations) • e-m probes • P (CP) - asymmetry Other studies: dense & cold matter (?)
