  3. Magi- Who were the Magi?- Why from Persia?- How may magi came to Bethlehem?

How did the magi know about the star?3 Then all the officials of the king of Babylon came in and sat down at the Middle Gate: Nergal-sar-ezer, Samgar-nebu, Sar-sekim the Rab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the Rab-mag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon. (Jer. 39:3 NAU)- Magi were in Jerusalem when the city surrendered to the Babylonians- Rab-Mag means Chief Magi- How was this missed?

  5. Why give gifts?48 Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. (Dan. 2:48 NAU)- Daniel’s promotion was accompanied by gifts- Jesus is “promoted” in an announcement

Abraham and JesusWhen he lifted up his eyes and looked, behold, three men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth (Gen. 18:2 NAU)- 3 angels, no names, announce Isaac’s birth and importance -3 magi announce Jesus’ birth and importance

  7. For us Today- Give your best to God- Giving and receiving is a cycling of blessings- God gave His best to us, Jesus, that’s why we serve Him
