HS diploma vs. college eligibility • The high school GRADUATION requirements are almost the same as the college entrance A – G requirements but there ARE differences!!

Completion of A-G coursework and SAT Reasoning or ACT CSU GPA is computed only on A-G coursework completed in grades 10-12. 3.0 GPA (or higher) = admission. Higher gpa required for admissions to Long Beach, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Fullerton, Pomona, etc. A lower gpa requires a higher test score Cal States csumentor.edu
CSU GPA • If your A-G gpa is lower than 3.0, then your test scores will make the difference regarding your eligibility for admission. • You may repeat A-G classes where you earned a D/F grade for a better grade. • Then only the repeated grade will count on your CSU college application. www.csumentor.edu/Planning/high_school

AB 540 • What if I am considered to be AB 540? • Any students who falls under AB 540 can go to any college or university in California if they meet admissions requirements. • Do I qualify for in-state tuition? • Yes -complete 3 years of high school in California and graduated from a California high school. • Can I apply for Financial Aid? • Yes – Now undocumented students are eligible for Cal Grant and state aid but not eligible for federal financial aid. AB540 students must complete the Dream Act financial aid application to determine eligibility.
