DSDF - DIGITALEUROPE Service DataFormat • e-Service workgroup (subgroup of After Sales Issue Group) mostly concentrates on data standards in the after sales area. • IRIS standard : error / repair coding • Warranty standard : warranty data between manufacturers and servicers • All standards are industry driven and aimed at facilitating dataflows, improving efficiency between all actors in the after sales business. • More and more the after sales flow gets interconnected datawise. • Large data exchanges happen between manufacturers, servicers, logistics operators, vendors, call centers etc... • More and more the need for some basic standardisation comes up.
DSDF - DIGITALEUROPE Service DataFormat • Manufacturers have already done or actually doing some own developments (ex : Pioneer / Sharp), based on their experience the workgroup came to a proposal on which consensus can be found. • Service platforms (ex : Infotip) use same principle, they also provided some initial input. • Vendors (ex : Mediamarkt-Saturn holding) show interested in joining for their own developments. • Logistics providers (ex : DPD, UPS ) that were working together with the ones mentioned in previous points accept. • The proposal is a basic structure, a basic data definition, still allowing full flexibility in usage, language, used software, interfaces etc... under the DIGITALEUROPE flag, to be posted and maintained in same area as current IRIS / Warranty content on DIGITALEUROPE’s webside.
repair data product data adress data DSDF - DIGITALEUROPE Service DataFormat • Practical setup of the standard : • Data is structured in “containers”. • Unique names for each type of content are defined. • Meaning of each type of content is defined • Fields for fixed values (like currencies) defined • Only essential fields are mandatory, leaving high flexibility between different users, the standard provides the basic framework. • Flexibility in usage : • existing standards are used (XML, CSV ...) • variety of channels possible (websvc, ftp, mail) • can be embedded within company-own dbases/interfaces
