  2. Transportation • One of the best ways to tour the city is to walk. Many of the city’s main attractions are within walking distance from each other. Rockefeller Center and Times Square are approximately a 10 minute walk from each other. • Not only is walking ‘green’ but it also can be more convenient. Instead of being stuck in traffic for more than an hour, you are window shopping on Park Avenue.

  3. Subway & Bus • Another convenient transportation option in NYC is the subway system. It can get you from midtown to lower Manhattan in 30 – 45 minutes. • The bus system is also another great option to getting around the city. Both the bus and subway systems are 24/7 and they use ‘Metrocard’ as a way to pay for fares.

Eco-Friendly Transportation • The MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Association) is the first public agency in America and one of the first transit systems in the world to have EMS (Environmental Management System) that is certified to ISO 14001. • ISO 14001 is the International Organization for Standardization environmental branch. • In 2000, the NYC transit department of buses launched the ‘Clean Fuel Bus Program’.   8. Attractions • Some fun things to do in the city that is also eco-friendly and promotes eco-tourism: 1. Central Park • You can bike/walk over 800 acres of beautiful land. • Its affordable and good for getting your daily exercise. 2. Shopping - Whether it is Park Avenue or a Flea market, there are hidden treasure everywhere. -You can support the locals by going to a flea markets. Some popular markets to check out are the Brooklyn Flea, Greenflea, and Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market.
