Internet Security - Course Outlines This Course • Provide an overview on • Principles of Information Security: Services & Mechanisms • Design of Security Protocols: IPsec + IKE, TLS, 802.1X • Applications of Internet Security: Firewalls, VPNs & IDS • Research & Development Directions:Content Security, Wireless Networks, Web Services, P2P Security • Includes: • AES, RSA, PKI • IPsec, SSL/TLS, IEEE 802.1X • Firewalls, VPNs • Intrusion Detection & Response • Not Includes: • Offensive Attacks • Secure Programming
Internet Security - Course Outlines Classes • Lectures & Mid-term Exam • Three (3) Hours/Week • Short Break during Mid-term Exam Week (11/07 – 11/12) • Literature Review • Team : Two (2) People/Team • Assignment : Two (2) Papers in same/different research area(s) • Program : One hour/week begin after Mid-term Exam • Term Project • Team : Four (4) People/Team • Assignment : One (1) design or implementation project in areas of e-Commerce, WLAN security, … • Program : Project selection starts 9/27, review starts 01/03/2006
Internet Security - Course Outlines Grades • Assignments & Mid-term Exam (30%) • Two (2) Assignment Sets x 5% each • One (1) Close-book Mid-term Exam on basic concepts • Discussions among peers are allowed • Straight copying is not allowed • Paper Review (30%) • Two (2) paper review x 15% • Same grades for both team members • Term Project (40%) • End-of-term project demonstration & short report • Each member identifies his/her contribution • Have Fun … I am not trying to fail you!
