Ben’s childhood • Benjamin Franklin was born in Massachusetts. He was born on January 17, 1706. His dad was a candle and soap maker. He didn’t do well in arithmetic. One of his interests was in electricity. Ben never went to college.
Marriage to Deborah Read • Ben got married on September 1st, 1730. Deborah helped manage a print shop and a general store.
Raising his children • Ben had 3 children, two boys and one girl. Their names were William, Francis, and Sarah. Deborah had their first child in 1731.
Writing Poor Richard’s Almanack • This book was published in 1732.This was the first time someone used a fake name which is called a pen name.
One Of Ben’s Discovery’s • Ben discovered was many different things about electricity. This is important because it helps scientists now to figure out things about electricity. It changed the world because scientists could make better hypothesis's about electricity. One test to prove things about electricity was the kite experiment. He proved in this test that lightning is electricity. He conducted this experiment in 1752.
Signing The Declaration Of Independence • When Benjamin Franklin signed the Declaration of Independence he changed the world. He signed the declaration because he wanted freedom from the king. Signing his name on just one piece of paper had changed everyone’s lives back then and still today.
Inventing The Iron Furnace Stove • Benjamin changed the world by inventing the iron furnace stove in 1742. This changed the world because it helped heat rooms . Without a stove, we wouldn’t enjoy the warm houses we have today.
Inventing Bifocals • Ben invented bifocals in 1784. He invented them to help him see better. This changed the world because it helped people like Benjamin see far and near with only one pair of glasses.
Inventing an Odometer • In 1775, Ben invented an odometer. This changed the world because it helped people back then measure postal routes. Benjamin Franklin himself also used it.
Signing the Constitution • IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776 Benjamin Franklin amongst others signed the United States Constitution. The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the United States of America.
Making the connection Ben influenced the Boston Tea party because he didn’t think what the king was doing was fair, and neither did the patriots. Also, he influenced the Battle of Saratoga and the American Revolutionary War because he did not think it was right to listen to the king, even if the king was being unreasonable. He also influenced the Treaty of Paris because after they won the war he wanted to make sure that the king would give the colonists freedom. Benjamin Franklin also influenced making the Declaration of Independence because he was tired of the king being unfair to the colonists.
