Unit Plan Samples Barn Owls and Owl Pellet Dissection
Procedure • Use United Streaming to look birds of prey, including the barn owl • Utilize teacher-made web page to learn about barn owls and owl pellets • Watch video to prepare for owl pellet dissection which is supplied with the owl pellets • Distance Learning with the Cape May Zoo on Barn Owls • Work on owl pellet lab, utilizing worksheets to help identify the bones found • Glue and label skeletons • Color in owls for display • Watch Hoot, a 90-minute video about owls, based on the Newbury Honor winning book by Carl Hiaasen • Prepare presentations for Catawba Jamboree
