Process of DTP • Create a sketch • Create on computer • Publish
Planning a document • Most important stage • Convey your messages without overpowering it. • Be consistent • Remember your audience (Target Audience) • Create a sketch (Thumbnail Sketch) Activity: Vocabulary Maps for Target Audience and Thumbnail Sketch
The Graphic Element Mix • Keep a good balanceof graphics and text • Too much text is boring • Too many graphicsdistract from the message • Remember to use other techniques as white space, text effects, and bulletsinstead of a lot of graphics • Keep your page balanced.
Typography • Glogster
Text Element • Don’t forget to choose a font that is readable! • Make sure typeface matches your message. • Stay within the same font family. • Use no more than 2-3 fonts per publication.
Headlines • Sans serif • At least 24 points • Don’t break up headlines
Body Text • SERIF FONT • EASIER TO READ • 9-12 points
Page Layout • Page Orientation: Landscape or Portrait • Facing Pages: SPREAD • Focal Point Activity: Dot exercise 2/3 down the page. Vocabulary Map for Focal Point & Spread
