At our conference, we hoped: - it would be inspiring for you - it would enrich your mind - you would be encouraged to stay on your literacy journey - you could celebrate your success - you could help to get the word out about literacy - every one of you felt welcomed and valued - you would meet new friends and have fun! - you would feel hopeful when you left - you felt that this was not our conference – but yours!
Three students from the U of A helped us get ready for the conference.

We had subcommittees, but we still worked together. Here Lil and Jan show Pat C. their work on the media committee.

We added music to the morning by singing a song with Mary to get us going.
In the morning we had workshops. This one was Tutors and Learners Working Together, a panel discussion.
There were more sessions after a great lunch. This one was Tips to Improve Reading.
After the workshops, we got back together for a Celebration of Learning.
Author Marina Endicott talked about her book, New Year’s Eve. Then Theresa surprised her with a gift. We gave gifts to all the speakers and workshop leaders.
Many students, including Danny, talked about their learning journeys.
After the conference, people said: - “Everyone was so happy, excited, and enthusiastic.” - “It was so good to experience learner leadership.” - “I liked meeting other tutors and learners from the other centres.” - “I would love to come to another conference. I really enjoyed myself.” - “Have it once a week!”

We made the conference a success by working together, like Kevin and Debbie did here. We couldn’t have done it without supporting each other.
