  1. Testing Dates English Language Arts (ELA)- April 15th, 16th,17th Math – April 29th-30th Science – May 1st-2nd

  2. Test Taking Tips • Be Physically Ready • Get a good night’s sleep before the test • Eat a good breakfast • School daily and on time. • PSSA is untimed. • Lunch will NOT be skipped. • All tests have both multiple choice and short-answer questions. • Double and triple check their work. • Do your best. • Relax and maintain a positive attitude. • Practice stress relief techniques (ex: Yoga breathing)

  3. Test-taking Tips • Show all of your work. Answer the question even if you only know part of the answer. You get points for each part you have correct. Be sure you show your work on the answer sheet--the test book is not scored. • Don't worry about what other students are doing. The tests are not all the same. • Read the questions carefully, underline or highlight parts of the question or story in the booklet if necessary to help you remember, and understand the passages. • Answer every question • Write legibly. If the person scoring your exam can't read your answer it may be marked wrong! • On multiple choice questions read every option carefully and be sure you are choosing the best answer. • Mark only the bubble for correct answer(s). Make sure the bubble is completely filled in. • When you are done check your answers!

  4. Testing Time and Mode of Testing Delivery for the PSSA The PSSA is delivered in traditional paper-and-pencil format as well as in an online format. The estimated time to respond to a test question is the same for both methods of test delivery. During an official testing administration, students are given additional time as necessary to complete the test questions. The following table shows the estimated response time for each item type. Each section of the test will take approximately 50 minutes but students have as much time as needed to complete each section. • Type & Estimated Response Time (in minutes) • Multiple Choice (MC)- 2 minutes • Open Ended (OE) - 10-15 minutes

  5. SAMPLE PSSA MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS:GRADE 3

  6. NO CELL PHONES! You cannot have a cell phone or any other electronic device in the testing room
