My feedback for the group Music video pitches
Hollie – poster girl • When Hollie did this presentation, she went into a lot of detail about the meaning of the track and what narrative we can use in the music video. • The track highlights that in today's society the people in the spotlight are stripped of their identidys and left for strangers to make up assumptions and their own opinions, because of this narrative she wanted to use a mannequin to represent the 'poster girl' to empashise this. However as much as this is a good idea this could be very tricky to make it look professional, and a mannequin has to be moved around by us and will seem a bit awkward just standing there. • She had a really good mix of ideas covering performance and narrative and the visuals that she had in mind were all really strong, the futuristic visuals were really cool and I think that we would have a lot of fun with it.
Ava – love in the 80s • The pitch that ava did for this song was really strong and she clearly had put a lot of thought into the idea. • The song is set in the 80s and has an old pop vibe to it. So Ava wanted to set it in a roller rink and have a narrative of an older man turning on an old tv set and the roller rink coming onto the screen and then that would become the main image, with the video ending back with the roller rink on the tv. • I think that the narrative is interesting however setting a roller rink in the studio seems impractical as we would not be able to build it so if we were to do this song, we would have to think of another place to set it such as a bedroom in the 80s.
Sanjana - seesaw • This pitch was also detailed however one thing that stood out to me was when she said that she wanted only the singer in the video and one other male. The problem with having only two people in a video alon- side a low concept narrative means that she may have trouble filling the space and creating interesting visuals. • The narrative is very typical and similar to my pitch, the classic boy meets girl and because this is such a classic it will work. It's easy to pull off and a well-known narrative, it will be familiar with audiences. • She has some nice visual ideas and has theopugh through the color pallete well, most likely to make up for the lack ofstory-telling. I think this balance will work well.
