Pressures for Quality Living Spaces • Populations are rising steadily in developed countries • There are pressures to build houses on Greenfield sites as a result of population movements within the country (due to work etc) • In the UK, there has been a significant shift of people moving from the north to the south • Southern counties of the UK have serious housing shortages.

  4. Rural Living Spaces- North Wiltshire Complete the case study under the following headings: Causes/reasons Key dates and facts Solutions Impacts

  5. Urban Pressures- Las Vegas (Mojave Desert) and the USA Complete the case study under the following headings: Pressures in the USA Causes/reasons for pressures in Las Vegas Key dates and facts/key terms Solutions Impacts Use figures available on the page as well.

  6. Draw a Venn and add in the similarities and differences between the pressures.

  7. Plenary Explain the pressures that can result from the demand for new housing in rural areas (4) OR Explain, using a named example, the impacts of urban sprawl (4)
