What is Sakai SIG NL? • Informal community, started in July 2006, hosted by SURF Foundation • Coordinator (1 day/week) • ~ 6 meetings annually • Work plan: communication, PR, exchange of experiences, shared roadmap, facilitating networking, localization of software • Website / weblog: just to inform those that do not know (yet)

  3. Meetings • In Utrecht, @ SURF Foundation • Usually ~15 attendants • Education Institutions and commercial companies • ‘Fixed’ agenda items: • Round table of participating organisations • Presentations of Pilots, Production environments • Sakai related announcements

Dutch facts and figures • VLE in primary and secondary education: very fragmented market • Higher Ed: large market share of Blackboard (~ 50 %), plus local players • HE: Total of ~60 institutions, 500 k students • Within HE: some 3-5 institutions that are evaluating Sakai • Commercial interests in Sakai, high activity and production
