JEDDAH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister, chaired on Sunday a meeting of the committee investigating the events surrounding last month’s deadly stampede in Mina.
The crown prince, who is also chairman of the Supreme Haj Committee, was updated on the progress of the investigation. The stampede took place on Sept. 24, the first day of Eid Al-Adha.
The committee is tasked by a royal directive to determine what caused the stampede and report its findings to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. The crown prince urged the committee members to find out the truth of what happened.
He sent his condolences to the families of those who died and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
