Grace Goes To School By Bridgette Swinford
Grace Goes To School Once upon a time, there was a girl named Grace, and she went to school at 9:00. One day, when she woke up, she went downstairs to eat breakfast. When she was done, she put all of her stuff in her backpack. Then, she put her shoes on and walked to the bus stop.
When she got there, no one was there. She looked around and didn’t see any of her friends. She realized that she had missed the bus. She felt worried about how she would get to school now. She had to think of a plan.
She ran home and asked her mom, “Can you drive me to school please. I missed the bus and I’m going to be late!” But, her mom couldn’t drive her because she had to go to work and didn’t have time. So, Grace decided to walk to school because there was no other way.
When Grace got to school, it was 9:30. She was late! She had to go to the office to sign in and get a late slip before going to her class.
When she got to class, everyone was doing a big math test. She gave her teacher the late slip, and the teacher said, “Get to work Grace!”
Grace sat down and started to work on the test. She had to work fast because she only had about 10 minutes left to finish the test. When the 10 minutes were up, her teacher said, “pencils down!”
Next, they had reading time while the teacher was marking the tests. Grace was worried that she would get a bad grade on the test, and she didn’t feel like reading.
When the teacher was done, she told everyone to go and line up at the door, get your shoes on, and go outside to the bus. Then, her teacher said, “let’s go! Everyone get on the bus!” So, they got on the bus to go on a field trip.
The kids asked, “Where are we going?” The teacher said, “You will see when we get there. You will love it!” “When are we going to be there?” the kids asked. “We will be there soon.” said the teacher.
Grace felt excited about the field trip, but she could not stop worrying about the math test from the morning.
“We’re here!” the kids yelled. They jumped out of the bus and ran around. “Where are we?” Grace asked. “We are at a park. It’s right up there.” said the teacher. “Wow! That is the biggest park I have ever seen!” all the kids said.
So, they played for 2 hours. When the 2 hours were up, the teacher said, “let’s go back to school.” The kids all yelled, “Noooo!”, so the teacher said, “Fine, we can stay for a little longer.”
So the kids started to play again for 10 more minutes. “Okay, we have to go now!” said the teacher. So all the kids got on the bus.
One hour later, they were back at their school. In the classroom, the teacher handed back the math tests that she had marked. Grace was still feeling very worried about her mark.
But, she was surprised when she saw her test because she did much better than she thought, but she thinks she would have done even better if she had gotten to school on time. From now on, Grace will be sure to never miss the bus again!
Then, the bell was about to ring, so they grabbed their backpacks and ran outside. They saw their moms and ran to the cars, went home, and went to bed.
