Louth Sustainable Energy Action Plan Action 1 – Replicate Dundalk 2020 approach in Drogheda and Ardee • Select zone in each area comprising homes and businesses to develop energy saving initiatives. • SEAI willing to make know how and experiences available to Drogheda and Ardee • The Louth Economic Forum has invited Drogheda Chamber of Commerce and Ardee Business Park Board to act as the champions of the initiative Community Champion - Chamber of commerce
Louth Sustainable Energy Action Plan Action 2 – Special Energy saving initiative for 60 selected Louth Companies • SEI has offered to support a special initiative in April to engage 60 local companies • Avail of the FAS Graduate support to provide “Energy Champions” • Total savings target of at least €500,000 per annum for the participating companies. • SEI will provide access to their energy saving know- how.

Louth Sustainable Energy Action Plan Action 3 – Create “ smart technology “ leadership in Louth based on existing companies & facilities • Capitalise on strengths of existing 8 companies in network IBM, Glen Dimplex, ABB, Cool Power, GreenAerNetwell, Oriel Wind Farm, E3. • Seek backing of Enterprise Ireland to establish “ Centre of Competence in Sustainable Energy “ in collaboration with industry & 3rd Level and possible €2m funding per annum. • Develop a “living lab” whereby companies trial new technologies

Louth Sustainable Energy Action Plan Action 4 – Propose industrial zone in Drogheda [Donore road area] as candidate for retro-fitting to energy efficient business park The Green Economy Report recommends as follows : “retro-fit an existing IDA Business Park” to a high level “of energy efficiency and low carbon use “in collaboration with existing occupants, service providers and authorities”
Louth Sustainable Energy Action Plan Action 5 – Propose Dundalk Science & Technology Park [ including Mullagharlin ] as IDA Flagship Green Business Park There is an opportunity to capitalise on the recommendation in the Green Economy Report to “develop one of IDAs planned strategic sites into a Flagship Green Business Park built to the highest level on the internationally recognised green building standard”
