Learning Outcomes At the end of this lecture, students will be able to: • Identify the various body systems • Recognise the terminology relevant to the circulatory, digestive, endocrine, female reproductive, and lymphatic systems.
Body Systems • There are 11 systems. These are: • Circulatory system (heart, blood, and blood vessels) • Lymphatic system (lymph vessels, nodes, and lymph) • Digestive system • Endocrine system The digestive system organs in the abdominal cavity include the liver, gallbladder, stomach, small intestine and large intestine.
Female and male reproductive system • Musculoskeletal system (muscles, bones, joints, and connective tissue “cartilage, fat”) • Nervous system • Respiratory system • Skin and sense organ system (skin, eyes, and ears) receives messages from the environment and sends them to brain. • Urinary system (kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra)
