1. New mining equipment hits the market Two new products have already hit the mining equipment market this month with CR Mining launching its DecaEdge cast lip and equipment leader Caterpillar launching a new Cat® D9 Dozer and a Cat 963 Track Loader. New Cat D9 Dozer set to lower operating costs The new Cat® D9 Dozer replaces the D9T model and offers customizable configurations to meet application needs around the world. Built on a legacy of longevity and proven reliability in the field, the new Cat D9 lowers overall costs per unit of material moved by up to 3%. Efficiencies gained through a new torque converter with stator clutch reduce fuel consumption by as much as 5%, and the new dozer reduces maintenance and repair costs by as much as 4%. The new dozer features the proven Cat C18 engine, which has a range of exhaust after-treatment solutions available, including configurations to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage V regulations and configurations equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 2 and Tier 3. The D9 also features differential steering for a tight turning radius and the ability to maintain ground speed while turning—to keep productivity high. The suspended undercarriage delivers more track contact with the ground for less slippage and greater productivity.

The versatile D9 can be equipped with any of a wide range of blades and attachments, enabling it to work efficiently in a variety of applications, including production dozing, site maintenance, fleet support and ripping. Companies engaged in heavy construction, quarry and aggregates, landfill, bulk materials handling and forestry applications have found the D9 Dozer an indispensable tool for delivering the lowest owning and operating costs while maintaining high productivity. CR Mining this week launched its latest DecaEdge cast lip (DE2553) The 9-station lip suits large mining wheel loader buckets with capacities between 14m³ and 20m³. CR says its DecaEdge range is well known for demonstrated performance and providing maintenance savings, with individual lips achieving more than 25,000 operating hours with no major rebuilds, resulting in over a 33% reduction in total cost of ownership of the lip and G.E.T system. The DE2553 was developed in response to the popularity of CR’s DecaEdge 10 and 11 station cast lips, aiming to broaden their cast lip range for Large Mining Wheel Loaders. CR Chief Executive Officer John Barbagallo says the range extension demonstrates the strong market appetite for this unique offering. “CR is the only manufacturer to offer a range of cast lips for mining class wheel loaders in the world.
