DoDEA-Pacific Mentor ProgramSY 2013-14 • Program Goals • To provide new teachers with the tools necessary for promoting quality education and student achievement • To familiarize incoming teachers with DoDDS, district and local school procedures and guidelines • To provide ongoing support and encouragement for incoming teachers • To foster the retention of incoming teachers
DoDEA-Pacific Mentor ProgramSY 2013-14 • Program Objectives for (School) • (Mentors-please do add to the list should you have additional objectives for your schools!) • To provide: • ongoing support for volunteer teacher mentors within the school • a professionally supportive environment • opportunities for new teachers to analyze and reflect on teaching effectiveness with regard to raising student achievement levels • a network for communication amongst peers
Meeting New Family Members Ms. Katie ESL/Culture • She was the first to join the AES family this school year. • She came to us from one of our sister schools here on the Guam • Don’t let the smile fool you…. She can manage any classroom.
Meeting New Family Members Mrs. Potter FLES/ PROfEsSIONAL PASTRY CHEF • Straight from Oregon • Joined the family after the start of the school year. • Her husband is my “Best Friend” this has nothing to do with the fact that he loves golf and deep sea fishing….nothing at all.
Sponsors like Ms. Clausing make the world a better place when you are 6,000 miles away from home with no car and no place to live. • It is so important for the entire family to feel like they important to us. • This is an obvious hint to Mrs. Potter to allow her husband to play golf with me every weekend. • “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!” We embrace the entire Potter Clan
