Specification • I want my animation to stay with colour schemes related to the trains state. (eg, muddy and darker when he is coming to the end of his train life) • Plenty of different camera angles. • The train must look like its alive and not just an object.
Animation ideas To breathe life into my character I am going to add small touches of characteristics. The wheels will move with a piston animation and the chimney will squash and stretch as it puffs smoke. It adds a more cartoony look as well as making the train seem more alive.
Maya modelling To get an idea about modelling the train in Maya, I have resembled the Train in cuboids and cylinders to simplify the design making it easier to model. A lot of bevels will be added.
Inspiration A short “Stop that train” by Alexandro Castro is a animated short. I believe the hardest part of my animation is the scenery and back drop. This animation uses great use of distance and therefore has to move the background very little. You can watch this on youtube.
Colour I have previously been given the information about colour and how it effects moods in animations. This is the effect I want, to have the picture and scenery getting darker and more saturated as the train starts to age.
